Hawaii Gets New Off Road Park

Our 4x4 friends in Hawaii have a new off road park after a long time effort by users and friendly politicians. Persistance has paid off from off-roaders around the islands. Awesome news!

It's called Sandbox Hawaii (Sand Island Park), with 32 acres of off-road fun, and about 5 of those for our four-wheeling friends. A super-cross track is part of the park as well.

Mike Elliot, Founder and President of the Hawai'i 4x4 Association and several other helpful folks have been working on this project for some time and it's great to see it come to be. The park opens October 1st officially, so if you get over there, be sure to check it out.

Here's a news blurb with some video of the park:

My hat is off to all who worked so hard with politicians and government officials, as well as community leaders to make this happen.

July 4th Parade in Rural Town America

It was a great day and awesome parade (for Mokelumne Hill, CA). We're a small, rural, northern CA town with a lot of spirit. My four-wheel drive club has the spirit and patriotism as well.

Never forget and never let freedom walk away...

Fun times were had by all (with some great 4x4 rigs with flags).

Reno Rocks 4x4 Day 3

The teams are kickin' it and the action is non-stop here at Reno Rocks 4x4 at the Sands Regency. But to top it off, our great friends, Todd and Larisa decided to get MARRIED here at the event. So down it went, right here in the Sands Chapel. It was fun. Stac and I got to be the witnesses, best man, bride's maid, and photographer. :) Way cute.

See pics of Day three, including Todd and Larisa Ockert getting hitched right here:

Reno Rocks 4x4 Day 2

Wow, this place is amazing. There is a lot going on, the drivers are wild in the WE ROCK course, and the fun is non-stop. The folks at the Sands Regency are going out of their way to make this historic event a real breath-taking, laugh out loud, fun time. Not to mention the great security they are providing and the helpful staff.

WE ROCK live radio is here doing the broadcast thing. TV cameras are all over the course, and the drivers are raving about how fun this rock course is. Get here if you can. The fun is just starting.

FOR IMMEDIATE WEB RELEASE

Win a Jeep Unlimited Jeep Wrangler… for $2
Just when you thought the economic sky was falling, the California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs (CA4WDC) steps up to the plate with a $2 Jeep. Each year, CA4WDC buys a brand new Jeep, tricks it out with everything a died-in-the-wool four-wheeler could dream about, and then raffles it off at their annual February convention … for two bucks!! (And you need not be present to win). This year's rig, a 2008 Jeep Unlimited Wrangler, is kitted out with an Atlas II transfer case, 35-inch BFGoodrich tires and Fabtech Lift, Warn 9500 winch on a Hanson bumper, K&N intake and Banks Power exhaust, Body Armor rear bumper, Tuffy Security consol and rear slide-out, PIAA and Warn lights and an Off Road Unlimited roof rack… and the list goes on. It also sports heaps of other cool stuff from Premier Power Welder, Jeepers Jamboree, Spidertrax, Rockhard, Staun and Hi-Lift. And because we off roaders often camp out, or get stuck in the mud (usually in the opposite order), the $2 Jeep Unlimited comes with recovery gear, and camping gear.
Runner up prizes ain't bad either…. 2nd is a Premier Power Welder, 3rd is two tickets for the 2009 Jeepers Jamboree, and 4th is an 11,000lb Pul Pal and case. How to win? Tickets are $2. Buy 10 and get a special sellers raffle ticket for a set of four BFGoodrich tires (your choice). This year's $2 Jeep will be raffled on February 14th, 2009 at the CA4WDC convention in Primm, NV, and you don't have to be present to win. Order tickets at: 1-800-4x4-FUNN or Surf the web to

4x4 Responsible Trail Ride Video

United Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA) has a new (short) video on the home page that is really awesome – and good to use/show at club meetings and public education workshops or gatherings. In a quick few minutes, this video captures a day trip (trail ride) with the drivers meeting, safety notes, a pack it out message, trail closures, and more. It's worth a watch.
