Our 4x4 friends in Hawaii have a new off road park after a long time effort by users and friendly politicians. Persistance has paid off from off-roaders around the islands. Awesome news!
It's called Sandbox Hawaii (Sand Island Park), with 32 acres of off-road fun, and about 5 of those for our four-wheeling friends. A super-cross track is part of the park as well.
Mike Elliot, Founder and President of the Hawai'i 4x4 Association and several other helpful folks have been working on this project for some time and it's great to see it come to be. The park opens October 1st officially, so if you get over there, be sure to check it out.
Here's a news blurb with some video of the park:http://www.khon2.com/mediacenter/local.aspx?videoid=1606
My hat is off to all who worked so hard with politicians and government officials, as well as community leaders to make this happen.
